We here at Mission Electric have always been fans of alternative, sustainable transportation. We want to rethink the way we move around our cities.
We started Mission Electric to bring e-bikes and e-transportation to the masses. It's good for the planet, good for people, and good for our communities. Our mission is to create a greener and healthier world through e-bikes.
The e-bike enables you to do all of the pedaling you want but gives you the support you need when traveling up steep hills, commuting long distances, or hauling heavy cargo. Not only are e-bikes an affordable, sustainable transportation alternative, but they are an absolute blast to ride. We believe that e-bikes are the future of how we get around.
Mission Electric was founded in 2017 by Tyler Justin, who moved back to Rhode Island after running operations and product development for Citi Bike in New York City, the largest bike share program in the United States. Prior to Citi Bike, Tyler worked in the solar industry. His time in operations management and product development in both industries has always kept him questioning how can we adapt our transportation systems to better engage with our communities and support healthy lifestyles.
Our Story: A Personal Quest
The story of Mission Electric starts when Tyler and his wife moved from Brooklyn to Providence. They were thrilled to trade the New York hustle for Rhode Island beaches. They were anxious to explore the beautiful coastal towns of New England and were ready to become a part of the local community. They settled right in town, positioning themselves conveniently close to their new favorite restaurants and hangouts. Though after a few months of living here, they realized that it wasn’t completely possible to walk or take public transportation to meet all of their daily needs. They didn’t want to have to get into their car to commute to work, buy groceries, or explore the beautiful neighboring towns, and became obsessed with finding a better way of living here in New England.
Excited to find a greener way of getting around (and ready to relieve themselves of monthly car payments), Tyler and Emily thought that life on two wheels would be the answer. But they needed a two-wheel option that could meet all of their needs as well as tackle the steep hills of Providence on a daily basis. The solution? An e-bike.
